The ACCOR Cosmetic Corrector plasma pen is the world’s first and only low frequency (LF) plasma device for non-invasive soft-surgery, non-surgical blepharoplasty (both upper and lower eyes), dynamic skin-lifting, skin-tightening and a progressive remodelling and rejuvenation effect. This ingenious, lightweight device is a German-designed and UK-manufactured device that offers a precision-based procedure. The ACCOR Cosmetic Corrector is the 3rd generation plasma pen delivering an instant visible contraction and lifting effect giving truly stunning, natural looking results.

The science behind ACCOR Plasma Pen skin tightening treatment
The plasma pen utilises the fourth state of matter which is‘plasma’. The principle is that when ionized nitrogen and oxygen (air) meet, it creates a gas. When this occurs it forms an electrical arc, similar to a miniature lightning bolt, vaporising the tissue but without actually touching the skin. Very clever!

As the epidermis is contracted, it generates fresh, beautiful new skin cells at the surface which lead to incredible skin tightening, lifting and rejuvenation. Next, by targeting fibroblasts in the dermis, we kickstart the process of collagen production. This process reduces lines and wrinkles by inflating, plumping and lifting the skin from below. Essentially, plasma helps rebuild and strengthen the scaffolding within the dermis to give back its elasticity and flexibility.

The plasma flash (or arc) transfers to the skin with absolute precision without harming any of the surrounding tissue. This thermal disruption later causes excess skin to dry superficially into tiny, brown, carbon crusts which slough off in the form of scabs within several days.

Simultaneously, plasma penetrates the fibroblasts contained within the sub-dermal layer and this stimulates accelerated division and migration of collagen cells. The dermis is actually composed of approximately 95% collagen.  Fibroblasts rarely undergo division within connective tissues unless stimulated by a wound healing process or post-inflammatory response which is what occurs with the plasma pen.

Increased levels of Type 3 collagen production occur for weeks and months after the micro-trauma has been created, later synthesising into the tougher Type 1 collagen.

Who is a suitable candidate for the plasma pen skin tightening treatment?
I can feel you getting very excited and wondering if this treatment is right for you.  If you are considering wrinkle and line reduction (ie crow’s feet, nasal labial folds), an eyelid lift, skin tightening or a neck lift, but don’t want to go under the knife and end up with a scar, this is an amazing alternative. Although completely non-invasive, you still need to expect a few days of downtime after the treatment as the skin will require time to heal, repair and rejuvenate.  As with any procedure, there are some contra-indications we can discuss at length during the initial consultation.

To ensure the procedure is as comfortable for you as possible, a topical local anaesthetic cream can be applied before commencing the procedure.  You can expect a degree of swelling when treating the eye area which will subside within 3 to 4 days.  Tiny, circular, brown scabs form at each treatment point that take about 3 days to start falling away and  5 to 10 days post procedure to completely clear.  Naturally we will give you aftercare to minimise risk of infection. Once the skin has healed you will be left with a beautiful fresh, more youthful and radiant skin.

The big question being asked is, “How many treatments will I need?”  This is where it gets even more exciting!  The results from this procedure are permanent, so usually a single treatment is enough to achieve the desired results. However, if you want a more dramatic result, the procedure can be repeated after 3 to 4 months. Because of its permanency you will only need to repeat it at any stage in the future as you genetically age.
