A|C|C|O|R Plasma Skin Tightening: Sue’s Story Part 2

The road to rejuvenated looking skin can have its hurdles… but you don’t get a rainbow without a little rain!

In part 1, the dynamic owner of Envisage Studio, Sue, underwent plasma skin tightening on her upper eyelids. Plasma Skin Tightening is a cosmetic method to non-surgically tighten the skin and reduce signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles. After the treatment, patients will notice small, dark brown-black dots over the treated area which, begin to fall off over time.

Side effects of the ACCOR Plasma Pen

Generally speaking, plasma skin tightening treatment is a relatively straight forward procedure with little risk. Any complications that may be experienced are usually a result of an existing medical issue, not following the correct aftercare plan or a reaction to the numbing cream. Our founder, Sue, discovered this during her experience.

“The next day was a different story! When I looked at myself in the mirror, I thought ‘Is this normal?’ It looked like someone had punched my lights out! I later learned it was likely I had a reaction to the high-strength numbing cream. Also, being an ex-smoker, my immune system had been compromised over many years therefore swelling associated with any sort of trauma can be an issue.

On an interesting to note, the 3 models I have performed the treatment on since my training have not had anywhere near the degree of swelling and bruising I experienced. I guess I’m just lucky!!???

Needless to say, I remained indoors, however that didn’t stop me from cleaning my Weber Baby BBQ and my pantry out. I deliberately did not schedule any clients on this day. The next few days were all much the same with varying degrees of swelling and bruising under the eye due to pressure, but hey, beauty is pain right?” I just had to trust in the process.

Aftercare

Although you can resume normal activity immediately after your treatment, you may not look your best during the healing process. For this reason, we recommend that you do not plan any special events immediately after your treatment. If you are considering treatment specifically for an event, we recommend that you allow your skin a month to regenerate.

During the healing process, it is important that you do not pick at the little brown/black crusts that form on the skin’s surface. It is also important that you do not cover the treated area. This includes bandages, plasters or any type of make-up. Some may find the aftercare process a little daunting. However, Sue is here to share some of her tips about how she got through it.

“Of course, one difficulty is that you are not allowed to get the area wet at all or put make-up on, not that it bothered me as I am, after all, the ‘poster girl’ for all the new technology I introduce.

The biggest concern was how I was to wash my hair. I’d already done the dry shampoo thing, so I decided to take myself to Madison’s Hair Design at Bardon and have it professionally washed and blow-dried. It was a welcomed treat and Zeljana made sure she did not accidentally get the area wet.

Boy those little brown, carbon crusts became really annoying at about Day 5 and felt a little itchy. By Day 7 I was chafing at the bit to intervene and get rid of them, but I just let them air dry a little longer. Yeah, trust in the process!

Alas, Day 9 arrived and all but half a dozen brown crusts had come away. I grabbed my scalpel and just gently using the tip, lifted them off – they were well and truly ready. This is not something I would recommend however unless it’s performed in a medical environment.”

The Results

Plasma skin tightening is an effective non-surgical alternative to lift and tighten the skin. Although it can be used on most parts of the body, it is extremely effective on the face. Although it does require some downtime, the results can be enjoyed for years to come and define your features.

“It was awesome to be able to put a little cover-up makeup on so as I felt human again! Over the next few weeks, the brand-new skin was rather sensitive, particularly to hot water (under the shower) and when removing makeup.  I pretty much avoided eyeshadow, just enhancing my eyes with a little eyeliner and mascara.  Boy, did they pop!! My eyes looked so fresh and alive!”

“Still at the 10-week mark, I can see some diffuse pinkish undertones on the centre of the eyelid which essentially means the skin is still regenerating and will continue regenerating for another couple of months. They say the best results are not fully seen until 4 months after the procedure.

This week I’m heading to Sydney to attend the Master Class Training. The Master Trainer, from Germany, is coming to Australia and guess who is one of the models?

Yes – I’m going to look like a total freak show by the time I have a plasma neck lift, upper arm lift, and the inner corners of my eyes (that weren’t originally treated). I may as well have my whole body done!!!”
