Microdermabrasion

Slough away the layers of dead skin to reveal luminous, firmer, and younger looking skin with our diamond microdermabrasion!

Young pretty faceWhat is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is sometimes called the “lunch time peel”. It is a non-invasive process of using crystals accelerated onto the skin’s surface to abrade layers of dead and damaged skin cells. On completion of the abrasive process, a vacuum suction whisks away the residual crystals and the unwanted abraded skin particles leaving your skin smoother, brighter and firmer.

What benefits can I expect to achieve through having the procedure?
You will see an immediate visible result of brighter, firmer and clearer skin. However, a program will be advised depending on the skin’s condition and your aesthetic goals.

How will the microdermabrasion procedure feel on my skin?
The procedure is hygenic, painless and safe. Remember it is not a facial, but a treatment designed to get results. The abrasion of the skin has a scratchy feeling and depending on the strength of the treatment you may experience slight redness and a wind burnt feeling which subsides 2-24 hours after your treatment.

What will happen to my skin after microdermabrasion?
Your skin may or may not be red and feel like it’s wind burnt for up to 24 hours. Each person’s skin reacts differently to microdermabrasion, so the first treatment is done at a very moderate level so that we may see how an individual’s skin responds. From day 2-5 the skin may become tight and dry and a light peeling may occur, from day 5-10 the skin becomes luminous, more hydrated and healthier looking.

How do I care for my skin after microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion increases microcirculation, bringing nutrients to the skin and improving the appearance of all imperfections. For the first 5 days after your treatment we ask that you do not use your regular moisturiser, as this will allow the skin to exfoliate to its optimum potential. An appropriate protector (SPF) must be applied to skin each morning.

Are there any professional products I should use?
Yes, it is best to use a cosmeceutical range. Such products work in the dermal level to change the condition of the skin. Some have different treatment systems designed to work with the condition of your skin.

Our skin technicians will advise you on the most appropriate product based on your skin’s condition.

Are there any precautions I must take while undergoing these treatments?
It is recommended that you refrain from any other invasive procedures if you are having microdermabrasion treatments unless advised by your practitioner. Waxing is not recommended 2 days prior to and at least 7 days after your treatment. The use of sun beds or sunbaking is strongly advised against and swimming in heavily chlorinated water should be avoided depending on the strength of your treatment for 2-5 days after your treatment has been performed. If you are having botox, any other injectable or facial tattooing, allow 21 days after the procedure. If you are using Vitamin A you may resume use 10 days after treatment.
